DICK’S — The Table

Dick’s firmly believed that sports make people better. And for the last couple of years we had positioned Dick’s holiday strategy around the idea of giving the gift of sport. Thus the gift of sport making lasting memories.

Now picture the ping pong table you played on as a kid. It was in your basement, your grandparent’s basement, or your good friend Eddie Haskell’s basement down the street. Life flourished around it. It became a place to learn, gather, and put laundry. This is the giving tree, told through a ping pong table.

It was an incredible success. Dick’s shattered all ping pong table sales that year, and in many locations, selling out.

When we were developing this spot we were all thinking about the ping pong table we used in our own childhoods. Mine was in my basement, Seth Jacobs was in his grandparents’ basement. And by crazy chance and by the universe smiling down on us, the house we filmed in was directly across the street from Seth’s grandparents’ house. The very one that he had spent countless hours playing ping pong with his family. 🤯
