DICK’S — See You Out There [Running]

It was spring again, and Dick’s Sporting Goods wanted to encourage people to get outside to shake off winter. They also wanted to capitalize on the uptick of runners that had recently picked up running as a way to move, cope, do something during the pandemic. Running was being used for so many reasons, both physical and mental, and we wanted to explore that.

So in order to uncover the breadth of reasons people were using running, we engaged 150+ influencers and gifted them special See You Out There boxes. They were filled with new shoes, new shirt, ear buds, theragun, a lens for you phone to take cool pics and document your runs, an additional gift card, as well as a book giving prompts to share why they were running.

We told three runners’ stories

Along with the boxes, in film and social we told the stories of 3 non-traditional runners that use running for different reasons. Marlinda who runs for her children and as a way to connect with her indigenous ancestors. Rafael who uses it as way to recenter and connect with other black men. And Hannah who uses it for her mind to connect to her body.
